Lose It! Application for phones & Ipods!

http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/lose-it/id297368629?mt=8

Check out this handy dandy application. I have been using it for the past 3 weeks, and I have already lost 5 pounds just by eating better and counting my calories. Every body goes through odd times with gaining and losing for better or for worse. The Lose It application will help you set a realistic goal and count your calories for you. You are required to jot down everything you eat during the day (easy right?). It is not 100% accurate with all of the nutrition facts, it definitely reminds you to look on labels of things that you eat. Pretty amazing that an 8 oz of vanilla yogurt is 110 calories, and a piece of pizza can be up to a whopping 700.

The best part about using this app? It's free =)

Day 1 of the P.B.D.

Well - I think out of all day I will give myself a B. (yeah ladies you rate yourself with this thing!)

I ate breakfast (endless amounts of freshly picked apricots), jogged and walked for an hour and a half. Came home - stretched and did some yoga. Drank 30 ounces of water. I also managed to eat some oreo cookies and a lady finger cupcake . . . hehe . .

Ate hummus and veggies for lunch. Lentil soup and Greek salad for dinner. Now for a dessert I am treating myself to watermelon and strawberries with my honey ;) By the end of the night I need to drink at least another 30 ounces of water.

I will say I did pretty good today, considering my old diet consisted only of oreos and lady finger cupcakes ;)

So what things are important for you to do throughout the day for your body? Eating right, drinking plenty of water, and getting at least thirty minutes of exercise a day are great ideas! AND another great idea - if your body is telling you to eat the oreo - go ahead and eat the oreo!!! Just don't eat the whole pack. =)

A delictable treat from me to you:

Strawberries with brown sugar dressing.

You need: Strawberries, two spoonfuls of sour cream, two spoonfuls of brown sugar.

Mix the sour cream and brown sugar into a bowl until blended. Clean and cut strawberries. Dip the strawberries in the brown sugar dressing and enjoy!

Water - how much do I need and why do I need it? What the heck is water anyways?

Water. Smart Water. AquaHydrate. Vitamin Water. Fiji. Aquafina. Arrowhead.

What is in water? Depending on what kind of water you purchase, different things will be in water. You can get water with vitamins, alkaline, ionic minerals, water that is microstructured, etc. Water is necessary for the life of most animals and plants. If we don't drink water, we will not be as efficient as we could be.

What is it that makes water so important? You have an idea? I'll tell you what I think. The most important thing about water is that we need it badly. So badly that if we don't drink it, we die. Long before you would die from starvation, you'd die from dehydration.

Now what does that tell us? It tells us only one thing. Water consumption is one of the most important parts of our diet. Our body needs, no craves water badly. When you don't drink enough water, your body will suffer. You probably already know that 70 % of our body is made of water. Sweating, breathing, living,... you lose water all the time!

Let's take a look at some of the main bodily functions in which water plays an important role.

Water is essential for our bodily functions.
Water protects our organs and body parts and holds them together.
Water is essential for our body cells, it gives them strength.
Water is used to transport nutritients, waste matter, hormones and other things in our body.
Water can help you maintain and lose weight.
Drinking water before a meal will regulate your appetite, making you feel full and satisfied a lot faster. As a result you will eat less and for that, lose weight.
Drinking water gives your metabolism a small boost, because your body will be well oiled.
Water helps cure other health issues.
Drinking more water will make you retain less water.
One glass of water can sometimes cure a headache.
Waters Lowers blood pressure and cholesterol.
Water Decrease chance of kidney stones.
Water gives you energy when you feel tired.

So to answer your questions: How much water do I need to drink??? A lot of people will say - drink 8 glasses of water a day. Wow - that's a lot of water! But guess what? A lof of us need more than that.

Take your weight in pounds and divide it in half. You are supposed to drink half of the amount you weigh. Not in pounds silly ;) Change the pounds to ounces. For example:

My weight: 150 pounds
Half of my weight: 75 pounds
What I need to drink = 75 ounces

More things are involved when trying to figure out how much water you need to drink. Are you pregnant? Breastfeeding? Living in high altitude? Do you drink alcohol?

For a more accurate answer on how much water you should drink, take this test! Hope you enjoy!

Starting it up right!

Hello again fellow bloggers!

Well well well. I started the year off great! Exercising every day, drinking tons of aquahydrate, and eating right. But then, I fell in love, and my priorities changed for a couple of months hehe ;) I have been going out to eat very often, completely stopped exercising, and my sleeping schedule is WAY off. So - let's get back on track, and why not together?!

And remember ladies - This really is not a diet to lose weight. This diet is to get all of us women not just fit, but also strong! Many of us will lose some pounds here and there, but the goal is to be stronger. Your mind will be healthier, along with your body. You will have more energy, and will be able to focus better.

Let's get it started!

Daily Exercise

May I emphasize how important daily exercise is?

It is VERY important! Cardio, Strength Training, and Stretching is very important. One of my favorites ways to exercise is to run and jog outdoors. Windy and rainy days are more fun with a friend, you tend to get some good laughs in too while you are out there shivering!

What kinds of things to you like to do for exercise? Walking dogs, jump rope, power push ups? Find the things that your body loves. You will exercise better and find it easier to do every day when you find someone you feel good at.

February beginnings!

Hello everyone,

Well. What an amazing first month! After reading the book and getting my groceries, I started out on a good pace. Cooking was difficult to do because I haven't had to put cooking into my schedule. I felt like I didn't have the time. I am not domestic by any means, so the cooking did take a little longer for me to do than the average person. I was very impressed how good the food tasted!

I managed to exercise as the book insisted for 2 weeks, as well as the constant eating! I felt more awake. I slept better. I was focused. I hardly pulled (you trichsters will understand!). I lost 4 pounds, and felt tighter around my waist. What did I do wrong?

I was only prepared for 2 weeks. After the second Saturday, I had no more food in my fridge. All of a sudden, it was an instant excuse to go to Carl's Junior. So, for the past 2 weeks, I have been eating nothing but junk food. I haven't had enough energy to go out and exercise. I gained 7 pounds. AND, I think I am going to start my menstrual cycle early. My body is in pain and I feel pretty agitated.

So, Monday I am back at it again, and I hope not to make the same mistake! Let's get it started! Again!
